Web Summit Vancouver 2026 drew 20,235 attendees and marked one of its strongest editions yet, with record investor turnout signaling renewed momentum across the global startup ecosystem. The event brought together founders, operators, and capital allocators from around the world, all focused on the next wave of scalable technology companies.
This year’s conversations reflected a clear shift in priorities. Instead of experimental or early hype-driven concepts, much of the attention centered on startups solving immediate, high-friction problems in industries that are traditionally slow to modernize. AI is no longer positioned as a standalone theme, but rather as an embedded layer powering infrastructure, decision-making, and automation across sectors like finance, climate, cybersecurity, and sports technology.
Investors showed particular interest in companies building “real economy” tools, platforms that improve how businesses operate day to day, from compliance and taxation to dealmaking and performance analytics. Climate-focused engineering also remained a strong theme, alongside a growing emphasis on security and operational readiness for early-stage founders. Amid the surge in activity and strong investor presence, several standout startups emerged as key companies to watch from Web Summit Vancouver 2026.
