With the rapid rise of burnout in the healthcare sector, especially among doctors, there’s one company that is changing the game in this space. MatchDay Health is an online platform that helps doctors reduce burnout by matching them with high-quality, high-paying jobs that lead to a higher quality of life and greater job satisfaction. This company was founded by Rami Wehbi, a primary care physician who has held various clinical leadership roles across care-delivery health technology companies, including serving as Chief Medical Officer and VP of Clinical Operations. We sat down with Rami to discuss MatchDay Health and its launch.
Describe what you do in 140 characters or less.
We help doctors find their dream jobs. Our mission is to help reduce burnout by matching doctors to top-tier, high-paying jobs that lead to a better quality of life.
Congrats on your launch! What was the inspiration behind MatchDay?
We are excited by achieving such an important milestone in bringing the platform to the public with over 500 doctors in the community already. MatchDay was inspired by the poor experience and incredibly high amount of spam I faced when looking for my first job. Through my experience, I learned that doctors want more from their careers but don’t have the tools available, and so settle for roles that aren’t the best fit. Our goal is to ensure every doctor can find their dream role.
How does MatchDay bring the healthcare community together? Are there any collaboration opportunities for doctors?
MatchDay’s platform is community driven – where doctors can connect with peers, explore new opportunities, and engage in collaborative projects. Our community offers everyone a new way of engaging with each other and highly sought after gigs.
As a physician led company, we understand the value of trust within the physician community and having this as a key pillar of the platform allows us to be collaborative with our users and peers.
What career challenges do doctors face in the post pandemic era? What trends do you see?
In the post-pandemic era, doctors face challenges like adapting to telemedicine, coping with burnout, and navigating the evolving healthcare landscape. We also see trends towards increased collaboration and tech integration. There is also a growing need for physicians in industry and start up jobs which was not as relevant even 10 years ago. Today doctors are not only doctors but executives, startup founders and more. The marketplace does not represent that transition for MD’s and DO’s.
Finding the right opportunity is always challenging. How does MatchDay help doctors get connected?
MatchDay leverages advanced algorithms and a vast network to match doctors with the right opportunities. By understanding each professional’s unique needs, we streamline the connection process. We also offer all of our members a personal career agent whom they can reach out to when they are ready for a new job or a career shift. Our agents don’t push jobs as a recruiter would. We listen and bring the right jobs to our doctors regardless of contracts and affiliations with institutions.
Where do you see your industry in the next five years? What are the opportunities?
In the next five years, we anticipate greater tech adoption in healthcare recruiting, with physicians more empowered to dictate the terms of their career path. We also see a larger emphasis on cost efficiency for staffing, and an increased focus on full-time employment vs contract employment, across the full spectrum of physician jobs including telemedicine, industry leadership and start-ups.
What’s next with MatchDay? Are there any exciting updates?
We’re constantly innovating! While we are kicking off our seed investment round, we also have new features launching later this year including a mentorship program, building out advanced matching algorithms, and expanding our community activations across the country. Stay tuned!
