Calgary-based venture studio Motiv has launched Opal, a new enterprise platform designed to help organizations deploy, manage, and govern AI agents at scale. The launch comes as enterprises continue investing heavily in artificial intelligence but face growing challenges around governance, fragmented AI tools, rising infrastructure costs, and turning pilot projects into measurable business outcomes.
Opal positions itself as an “agentic operations” platform, bringing together people, AI agents, enterprise knowledge, and business systems into a single operating environment. Rather than relying on standalone AI assistants or disconnected copilots, the platform is designed to coordinate collaboration between employees and AI across the organization.
A key feature of the platform is a centralized resource registry that enables businesses to manage AI assets, including agents, tools, skills, guardrails, and reusable workflows from one location.
The platform also includes orchestration capabilities that support autonomous AI execution, human-in-the-loop processes, and structured workflows involving both employees and AI agents.
To address one of the biggest enterprise AI challenges, knowledge management, Opal can ingest and process a wide range of content, including documents, spreadsheets, presentations, code, images, audio, and video. The platform automatically performs tasks such as transcription, enrichment, digitization, and annotations to create a knowledge layer optimized for both employees and AI systems.
Opal is model agnostic, allowing organizations to choose from more than 200 AI models through a unified interface instead of being locked into a single provider. According to the company, the platform also continuously optimizes token usage to help organizations manage AI infrastructure costs more efficiently.
The platform includes a marketplace with more than 3,000 integrations and reusable assets, including AI agents, workflows, templates, connectors, and skills, allowing organizations to accelerate deployment without building every component from scratch.
Enterprise governance is another area of focus. Opal includes role-based and resource-based access controls, audit logs, version history, guardrails, and centralized token management to help organizations maintain oversight as AI adoption expands.
