Governments around the world need to embrace digital services faster than ever before. While the pandemic has accelerated the pace of digitalization, there’s one startup that is aiding municipalities and governments in providing seamless digital experiences. Vancouver-based tech startup SimpliCity offers a single point of access to government information and digital services. Municipalities can conveniently create and reuse content from a centralized source and integrate their data with various applications. Founded by Briana Sim and Ian Sim in 2022, the company started with the realization that although governments wanted to provide direct digital services to their citizens, current website technology was never designed for the integrations necessary to make this a reality. The company secured the District of North Vancouver as their first customer.
SimpliCity has been selected as one of the top 10 finalists for the 2024 Government Innovation Challenge & Pitchfest hosted by CivStart. This is the only Canadian company to be shortlisted. CivStart is a government innovation event in collaboration with five US local governments including Miami-Dade County, Los Altos Hills CA, Richmond VA, Arlington VA, and Houston TX.
“This event is a pivotal moment for us—a chance to amplify our impact across North America and solidify our position as catalysts for municipal digital service transformation. The energy surrounding the 2024 Government Innovation Challenge and Pitchfest is palpable, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of it. Our selection as a finalist underscores SimpliCity’s relentless pursuit of innovation and our unwavering commitment to driving positive change.” — Briana Sim, Founder & CEO of SimpliCity
This pitch competition will be hosted at the Town Square Room in the Kauffman Foundation Building in Kansas City on April 30, 2024.
