Tech Startup TriplePlay is Joining Roblox

Remote work has significantly changed the way companies build their team and culture. This rapid transformation brought many challenges for companies including employee engagement and developing remote-first cultures. The traditional video conferencing players were not working for companies as many struggled to keep the culture cohesive. The video platforms were one-sided and lacked interactions for teams to create new connections. The biggest issue is that these were built for a speaker to audience presentation. You simply cannot run a remote social event on a webinar-like platforms and expect your team members to get excited about it. It is all one sided as there are no social interaction, gaming, or any form of engagement. This created new opportunities for real innovation in this space. This is where TriplePlay team saw an opportunity to disrupt this space.

Toronto-based TriplePlay was one of the very first early innovators to tackle the remote employee experience challenge for companies. It started as a way to bring teams together and to create new experiences and connections for companies. The company started in 2020 in the midst of pandemic by Mark Hlady and Yuri Takhteyev. The co-founders had tremendous product and technical experience prior to starting TriplePlay including work experience at Facebook and WealthSimple. The company was incubated at the prestigious Entrepreneur First accelerator. This is a program that invests in the next generation of founders across the world. Since its inception, TriplePlay has had significant traction with growing client base and drawing some notable investors from Canada, USA, and UK.

TriplePlay focused on being the ultimate employee experience tool for creating community and friendships at companies. The video-based platform brought together number of impressive features including employee circle, live chat, and gaming functionality. They also ran seasons of virtual challenge events where your entire company can competes in games like Trivia, Heads Up & People Bingo. TriplePlay had an impressive list of clients including BMO, Telus, Deloitte, and more. TriplePlay has recently joined Roblox. This is one of the largest gaming platform that is reimagining the way people come together.

Here’s what TriplePlay stated about this on their website:

“We started TriplePlay to address the new realities of remote and hybrid work – and offer teams a way to build camaraderie and connection when they are not together, in person. We realized that employees are more engaged, and work is more rewarding and fun when people have deeper relationships with their colleagues. But, very few products existed to help coworkers build community and develop friendships. So, we built Tripleplay, a series of ongoing virtual games, aimed at bringing teams, departments and geographies closer together.

Roblox’s vision is to reimagine the way people come together to connect, create and express themselves through immersive, interactive shared experiences. We share this vision. At Roblox, our team will help deliver an incredible immersive experience to Roblox’s 58 million plus daily active users on an expanding variety of platforms and operating systems.”

This development brings new opportunities for innovation as companies figure out a way to leverage these new up coming platforms. This goes without saying engaged team members and culture adds to the bottom line.
